Founded in 2013, Culturally Defined is a street dance company, based in Vancouver, Canada, that offers an open space for dancers from all walks of life to experience and strengthen our shared passion for dance. Our main goal is to create a strong understanding of the foundations of hip hop culture and street dance styles through educating our students in Hip Hop, Locking, Popping, House, BBoying, Waacking, and more. We aim to fully expose our dancers to many forms of movement by providing them with intensive training from our established directors, elite faculty, and international guest instructors. Throughout the program, our students learn to polish their technique, follow and create choreography, develop personal freestyles, improve personal health, and challenge themselves with becoming a versatile and creative individual.
This season, we’re making professional street training more accessible by expanding our dance family and offering multiple training programs to accommodate different schedules and commitment levels. Learn more about our 10-Month Programs and 3-Month Training Programs.

OWNER & DIRECTOR
A captivating dancer, choreographer, and director- Chris 'WOW' Wong creates stories through movement with his creativity and experience in the entertainment industry.
His dance style blends together elements of hip hop, house, popping, locking, and new style hustle. He is professionally trained in all foundations of street dance and his training extends across the globe- LA, New York, Tokyo, and Vancouver.
As a performer, he works with Da Costa Talent and his work has been featured in music videos, TV shows, movies, and concerts. This is his third year selected as one of Georgia Straight's Top 3 Dancers for his influence in the dance community.
A lover of dance and music - Brigitte took her first tap class when she was 4 years old and has continued her dance training in many forms - tap, jazz, ballet, and hip hop competitively.
Since entering the world of hip hop and street dance, she’s found a natural connection to house dance and trains in battling and freestyle. Music and dance has become her favourite part of her everyday routine and she finds inspiration through helping others find dance in their lives.
Steven’s hip hop training extends from competing internationally in World of Dance, Artists Emerge, and representing Canada at the World Hip Hop Championships in Las Vegas, to dancing in companies such as TwoFourSeven Dance co and most recently, Culturally Defined.
He joined the CD Family in 2016 and has complimented his performance background with training in the many diverse styles of hip hop and street styles. This year, Steven has joined us as a program lead instructor, sharing his experience and 8 years of professional teaching experience with our newest family members.
